‘Chat Fou’ Rouge 2022

Eric Texier came to wine through passion, not heritage. A former nuclear engineer, he left the industry in the early 1990s to pursue winemaking, inspired by traditional vignerons and a deep respect for terroir. He made his first vintage in 1995.

Working primarily in Brézème and Saint Julien en Saint Alban, Eric focuses on old-vine Syrah, Grenache, Roussanne, and Clairette across just under 10 hectares. His farming is certified organic, rooted in low intervention methods inspired by Fukuoka and Jules Chauvet. No plowing, no additives, minimal sulfur, and no new oak. His approach is thoughtful, restrained, and deeply tied to place.

Eric's wines are not designed to follow trends, his wines made to reflect where they come from, with clarity, character, and respect for tradition.

Here at Dirty Vine, we’re huge fans of Eric’s wines and his uncompromising style. We’re also proud to feature wines from his son, Martin Texier, who’s following in his father’s footsteps, making natural wines that celebrate the region they call home.
