Estate Pinot Noir 2021
Drew and Laurie Duncan discovered their love for wine while in college. These two Texans set out to find the perfect place to cultivate their dream, and after a visit to Santa Barbara, they found it in Sta. Rita Hills. The location, just 9 miles from the Pacific Ocean, offers a unique cool climate ideal for their Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Gamay plantings. This climate allows for slow ripening, resulting in wines that are rich, complex, and carry a hint of salinity from the maritime environment. Drew and Laurie work with winemaker Ernst Storm to produce wines influenced by Old World styles, reflecting the family’s terroir and the unique qualities of each vintage.
The estate fruit is sourced from north-facing hillside blocks. The wine spends 16 months in French oak (25% new), showcasing the terroir beautifully on the palate. This wine can be cellared, it will only deepen in complexity with time. If you choose to enjoy it now, we recommend decanting to allow it to open up and breathe in the glass before serving.
