Vinho Tinto Corrente 2023
Portuguese wines in the U.S. offer only a glimpse of the country’s true depth. What we love about them is their intimacy with local culture and their honest expression of terroir. We wish we had more access to the great wines of the country. In Las Vedras, Pedro and Sónia farm 2.5 hectares of old vines (30–80 years) in the windy, Atlantic-influenced hills of Torres Vedras, near Lisbon. Planted on clay-limestone soils, their vineyards—Pero Negro, Portela do Bispo, Barro and Dois Portos—are rooted in local heritage.
In the cellar, they follow a low-intervention, artisanal approach: minimal sulphur, extended ageing in used wood and bottle, and practice patience while the wine does its own thing. The wines ae precise, mature and delicate, reflecting the character of each vineyard.
