Mathieu Vallée took over the vineyards of Château Yvonne in 2007. While the château dates back to the 16th century, it wasn’t until 1813 that wine production began. Over the years, the estate has changed hands a few times, but fortunately, it’s mostly been passed to passionate vignerons. The estate primarily grows Cabernet Franc, with a small amount of Chenin Blanc, both farmed organically since 1997. When Mathieu took ownership, he decided to retain the name as a tribute to the dedicated caretakers before him.

Known for producing some of the finest wines in the region, we highly recommend trying the Cabernet Franc. The wine is crafted with a hands-off approach, using organic and biodynamic farming practices. It’s aged for one year in oak (20% new) and another year in bottle before being released. If we had to describe this wine in three words, they would be: elegant, earthy, and complex.
