L'Orange Gaulois 2020
A father and son duo that’s caught our attention, Bernard Bohn has always been somewhat unconventional, and his fans are grateful for that. Farming organically—and even going beyond that with some of their own preferred methods—they allow cover crops to coexist with the vines. As a result, Bohn wines stand out in the region.
They farm 9 hectares, growing the 'typical' Alsatian varieties alongside their 'Par Nathur' wines. The Par Nathur wines, available on Dirty Vine, are never filtered and contain no sulfur. Due to regional regulations, they cannot label the wines as "Par Nature," so they combined Bernard's son Arthur's name with "Nature" to create "Par Nathur" for their labels. While not officially approved by the AOC, we love Bernard's rebellious approach—it certainly makes for great drinking.
Bohn wines are never rushed to market; they are released only when they’re ready. You can consider their wines innovative, experimental, and, most importantly, delicious.
This wine spends three weeks on the skins, adding complexity to its character. It’s aromatic, fresh, bright, and fruit-forward, with a nice acidity that makes it food-friendly.
