Pinot Noir 2023

Drew and Laurie Duncan discovered their love for wine while in college. These two Texans set out to find the perfect place to cultivate their dream, and after a visit to Santa Barbara, they found it in Sta. Rita Hills. The location, just 9 miles from the Pacific Ocean, offers a unique cool climate ideal for their Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Gamay plantings. This climate allows for slow ripening, resulting in wines that are rich, complex, and carry a hint of salinity from the maritime environment. Drew and Laurie work with winemaker Ernst Storm to produce wines influenced by Old World styles, reflecting the family’s terroir and the unique qualities of each vintage.

This entry-level Pinot Noir is elegant and expressive, showcasing the best of the Sta. Rita Hills’ cool-climate terroir. Farmed organically, the grapes yield a wine with vibrant red berry notes accented by hints of tea leaf and spice, all wrapped in a fresh, medium-bodied profile that lingers beautifully on the palate. A compelling introduction to the range, it offers a glimpse into what the family has to offer.
