Rioja Blanco 2023
The Sáenz de Samaniego family has been making wines for generations, they have a respect for their legacy and land which is refelcted in each bottle. The family's philosphy is one we can get behind, they believe taking care of the land means taking care of the future generations to come. Their vienyards are located in Rioja Alavesa, located in Northern Spain, a region known for producing complex, fruit forward wines. Paying repsect to tradition but not loosing site of the future, they have an innovative approach to the process.
The Blanco is a great way to familiarize yourself with wines from this region. For this bottling the grapes are coming from some of the highest parts of their oldest vineyards, where the vines are 30-80 years old. The vineyards are located on south facing slopes, getting a lot of light and then benefiting from both Atlantic and Mediterranean climate influences, giving the wine a unique character. The wine is well balanced with a salty acidity and freshness.
