Slatnik 2022
Radikon wines have something of a cult following. While the flagship wines are incredible, we’re excited to share the Slatnik from the “S” line. Sasa Radikon created this line as a complement to his father Stanko’s iconic wines, expanding the range while keeping the same philosophy in the vineyard and cellar.
The two lines are made from the same carefully farmed vines and with the same hands-off approach, but they differ in a few key ways. The “S” white wines spend about two weeks macerating on the skins rather than three months, and they age for about a year instead of three to four years. They’re bottled in a classic 750ml format rather than the distinctive 500ml or 1L bottles used for the flagship wines, and they receive just a small touch of sulfur at bottling.
Slatnik is made from organic Chardonnay and Tocai Friulano, harvested by hand and fermented together with native yeasts in oak vats. After about two weeks on the skins, the wine ages in large oak barrels for a year before being bottled unfiltered with a small amount of sulfur. The wine is named after a nearby village.
