Temperence Hill 2023

Seth Morgen Long is dedicated to crafting the finest Willamette Valley Chardonnay he can.

His journey began during the 2009 and 2010 harvests in the Willamette Valley, while he was training as a sommelier. Driven by a desire to deepen his understanding of wine, he spent the next two years chasing harvests across the globe—working in Central Otago, the Santa Cruz Mountains, and returning to Willamette for an ambitious three harvests in 2011 alone.

In 2012, Seth traveled to Burgundy to work harvest at Domaine de Montille in Meursault. It was there that he realized Chardonnay would be his life's work. He completed a final harvest in Meursault in 2013, focusing exclusively on Chardonnay, before returning to Oregon to begin his own project—wines named in honor of his family.

Each vintage is made with meticulous care. The 2023 Temperence Hill fruit is hand-picked, then aged for one year in a combination of new and neutral oak. Afterward, the wine spends an additional six months in stainless steel on its lees, developing a lush texture and layered complexity. A precise amount of sulfur is used early in the process and the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered—allowing the true character of the vineyard and vintage to shine through.
